The 4-H Pledge
I pledge:
My head to clearer thinking
My heart to greater loyalty
My hands to larger service
My health to better living for my
club, my community , my country, and my world.
The 4-H emblem is a four-leaf
clover with an "H" in every leaf. The letters stand for HEAD, HEART, HANDS,
and HEALTH; the foundation of all 4-H programs.
Through 4-H programs youth develop:
HEAD - clearer thinking and
decision making, knowledge useful through life;
HEART - greater loyalty,
strong personal values, positive self-concept, concern for others; HANDS
- larger service, workforce preparedness, useful skills, science and
technology literacy;
HEALTH - better living,
healthy lifestyles.
4-H helps young people:

become creative and productive
citizens
develop positive leisure time
activities
create a lifelong desire for
knowledge
foster positive self esteem
build leadership potential
become involved in communities
explore interests and try new
skills
The 4-H Motto
To make the best better
The 4-H Vision
4-H... A world leader in developing
youth to become productive citizens and catalysts for positive change to meet
the needs of a diverse and changing society. Hoofbeats and Mini 4-H members are
known to jump in and get involved. We are very dedicated to the 4H program to
make the best better with always fun to be had.
Community Service
Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth." This
quote, spoken by Muhammed Ali, flawlessly explains the Hoofbeat 4-H Club’s
dedication and service to both their community and outside organizations.
They do not do it for the recognition, nor do they do it to be praised, they
do it because they know that it is the right thing to do. They do it
because the gratification of helping others goes beyond all happiness that
one can have. When one goes home at night they know that they have “made
the best better”, whether small or large, they have helped to improve the
lives of others. The Hoofbeats have done an abundant amount of service
throughout the New England community. By using their heads, hearts, hands,
and their health, they work throughout society to raise the well being of
others. They truly have paid their rent as Muhammed has challenged. So let
us challenge the rest of the 4-H Clubs in New Hampshire. Not only this, let
us challenge the rest of the world. Let us all begin to pay our rent to the
earth.

“The creation of a
thousand forests is in one acorn.” Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote this quote in the
past in order to clarify the true meaning of leadership. In only several words
he is able to explain how only one or a few people are needed to inspire the
world to do something that they had once seen before as out of their reach or
beyond their capabilities. If one acorn is all that is needed to create
thousands of forests then we can only begin to imagine what the effort of one
person can bring to the world today.
For many years the
Hoofbeats 4-H Club of Goffstown, New Hampshire has been a leader in not only
Hillsborough County but also in the New England Region. Throughout the years
theses dedicated members have volunteered many hours of their time to the
communities around them. They strive for excellence because they believe that
with work, it is possible for the world to become a better place. It is
because of this that they have taken on many roles of leadership. When meeting
with members of the club, one may find that that are engulfed with pride, joy,
excitement, and numerous other qualities. These qualities are due to knowing
that they are making a difference in the lives of others. They realize that
the work they do may seem small in comparison to others but they continue on
in hopes that others will follow in their footsteps. In this way the members
of the Hoofbeats 4-H Club are true leader of the future. They are the acorns
that will grow into the forests of tomorrow.
